LOCATION AND CONTACT Where are you located? We are located at the 'Tween Waters Inn Marina on Captiva Island. 15951 Captiva Drive. Can we park at your location? Yes. We provide parking for our customers. Once you check in we will give you a resort parking pass. RENTAL REQUIREMENTS & RULES What do I need to rent a boat? You need boating experience. You will also need a valid driver's license, credit card, and cell phone. Do I need a boating license to rent a boat in Florida? Florida law does not require a boating license to operate a power boat unless you are under the age of 25. We do require that our customers have boating experience. Taking a FL Boaters Safety Course before renting or operating any boat is highly recommended. You can go to http://www.myfwc.com for more information on licensing and boaters safety requirements. Are there any age restrictions? You must be 24 years or older to rent the boat, but all ages are welcome on our boats. Can we pick up additional passengers at another location or dock? No, all passengers must load at our dock. Also, all passengers must sign the liability release agreement before getting on the rental boat. If you are caught loading passengers at another location, or you are caught with anyone on board who has not signed the liability release, you will be instructed to return to the dock immediately. No refund will be given. Can we fish? Yes. You may fish from our boats. But, it is the customers responsibility to obtain a saltwater fishing license and to know and understand all local fishing regulations. You can purchase a fishing license and learn local regulations at http://www.myfwc.com Do you rent fishing rods? Yes. We rent fishing rods. We also rent bait buckets and bait is available inside the marina store. Can we ski or tube? No, our insurance does not cover any pull behinds or towing. Can I bring my dog? Yes. Dogs must be leashed at all times while on 'Tween Waters property. You might also want to check Lee County regulations regarding pets and beach access. NAVIGATION & COMMUNICATION Do you provide a chart of where we can go? Yes. We provide a boating chart for our customers and will instruct you on where to go and how to read the chart. It is ultimately the customers responsibility to understand how to navigate and operate the boat. Do any of your boats have GPS? No. We only provide a nautical chart for navigation. What happens if we run aground? If you follow the chart and instructions you should not have any problems. But, just in case, all motors are equipped with power trim & tilt. Also, every boat has a paddle on board. If you run aground and require assistance, call us. If you are within the allowed run area you will be charged a rescue fee of $100 for the first hour and $100 for any additional hours. If you are outside of the allowed run area you will be charged $150 for the first hour and $150 per additional hour. BE AWARE that the customer is responsible for any and all damage to the boat or motor during the rental. This includes damage to the prop. Charges for damage to prop: Prop repair: $150 Prop replacement: $425-$500 Can sand damage the prop? YES! Sand and mud can do major damage to the prop. REMEMBER: Do not start the engine if you are in shallow water. Use the paddle to push into deeper water. Never "beach" the boat. Anchor away from the shore keeping the boat in mid-thigh to waist deep water and wade to shore. Do not operate the boat outside of the marked channels. FUEL AND ADDITIONAL COSTS Is fuel included in the price? No. All fuel charges are additional. Can I fuel the boat myself? No. Our boats run on non-ethanol fuel only. Boats may only be fueled by a Beach Bums Boat Rentals employee at Tween Waters to avoid any problems. Customers who fuel the boat themselves will be charged for damages. How much fuel will I use? Every rental is different. Passenger weight, weather, and how the boat is driven all impact fuel use. Our boats are equipped with fuel efficient 4-stroke motors. We can give you an average after we know more about your group and where you are going. What happens if I break something? Customers are responsible for any and all damage to the boat, motor, or any equipment. You will be charged for any damage and/or lost equipment immediately. What happens if we are late returning to the dock? We do have late fees. You will be charged a full rental fee for every 30 minutes you are late. If you are running late please call and let us know. Do you charge cleaning fees? Not usually, however, if the boat is returned in an excessively dirty condition (fish blood and bait all over the boat) you will be charged a $50 cleaning fee.
